Part 2 of 7 Preparing the Heart Before the Decision

Part 2 of 6

Preparing the Heart Before the Decision

Opening reflection

Discernment begins long before decisions are made. It begins in the inner life.

Sometimes what clouds discernment is not lack of intelligence but fear, pride, urgency, attachment, exhaustion, or the desire to control outcomes.

The heart rarely arrives neutral. And yet God meets us gently there.

Scripture

"Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts."

Psalm 139:23

Prayer

Spirit of God, help me reflect honestly. Reveal the places where fear, ego, or attachment may be clouding my ability to listen. Teach me to hold decisions with open hands. Amen.

Walking

With God this week — and, if you can, with someone.

Write down one outcome you are gripping tightly. Offer it back to God in prayer.
